How adding page numbers to a PDF actually works
Zipero uses pdf-lib to open the document, embed a standard font (Helvetica), then draw an extra text stream on each page at the chosen position, computed from the page dimensions and the width of the text to display.
The number shown on each page is computed from the chosen starting number and the page's index in the document, then formatted according to the selected style (number alone, number over total, or "Page n").
This operation adds a new content element to each page without modifying the existing text, images, or layout: the original document stays intact, only the page number is overlaid.

Can I choose which number the pagination starts at?
Yes. The "starting number" field lets you begin numbering at any value, useful for example if your PDF continues from another document that is already paginated.
What numbering formats are available?
Three formats are offered: the number alone ("2"), the number followed by the page total ("2 / 5"), or the word "Page" followed by the number ("Page 2").
Does adding page numbers degrade the quality of the PDF's content?
No. Zipero only adds a small piece of text at the chosen position on each page, without re-encoding or altering existing content — text, images, and fonts remain identical.
